Eight-cell D-battery holder

This black plastic and metal holder accepts eight 1.5 V D-size cells wired in series. Spring-loaded contacts make insertion and removal straightforward. The unit weighs 83 g and measures 13.5 x 7 x 6 cm. Batteries are not included.

Series wiring under continuous draw

Connecting the cells in series adds their voltages while current capacity stays that of a single cell. The 14.5 cm and 18 cm lead wires give flexibility for routing power to a project. Sustained load performance will depend on the chemistry and condition of the cells you install.

Check voltage and space before ordering

Verify that your device expects the combined voltage of eight series-connected D cells. Confirm the 13.5 x 7 x 6 cm footprint fits your enclosure or mounting area. Ensure the two-wire output matches the connector or soldering arrangement you plan to use.

Questions about this item

Does the 14.5 cm or 18 cm wire get warm when the holder runs all day?

The holder has no active electronics, so the wires carry only the current drawn by your load; they stay at ambient temperature under normal use.

What else must I already own to use this 8-cell D-size holder?

You need eight 1.5 V D-size batteries and a device that accepts the combined series voltage through the two flying leads.

Will the spring contacts in this holder work with older D cells that have shorter positive nubs?

The spring-loaded contacts compress to accommodate normal length variations in standard D-size cells.
