Set of five black spacer frames adapts 7 mm drives to 9.5 mm bays in laptops and desktops
This five-piece frame set converts 7 mm hard drives or solid-state drives to the 9.5 mm height required by many laptop bays and drive caddies. It is aimed at anyone fitting a slim drive into a thicker slot without loose movement. The black plastic spacers snap around the drive body for a secure fit.
The frames eliminate the need for folded paper, tape or custom brackets when a 7 mm drive sits loose in a 9.5 mm bay. The upgrade is worth it whenever the original drive tray or laptop chassis expects the taller form factor and the thinner drive would otherwise rattle or fail to connect. Each piece weighs 22 g and is moulded for repeated insertion and removal.
Verify that the drive you are installing measures exactly 7 mm thick and that the target bay or caddy accepts a 9.5 mm device. The spacers are rectangular pads, so confirm the drive and bay share the same rectangular profile before ordering. They are not suitable for drives already at 9.5 mm or for non-rectangular mounting surfaces.

Each frame adds the material needed to bring a 7 mm drive up to the standard 9.5 mm bay height so it seats securely in the caddy.
Peel the adhesive backing, align the rectangular pad with the drive’s bottom edge, press firmly, then slide the assembly into the drive bay or caddy.
Replace a frame if the plastic cracks, the adhesive fails, or the drive becomes loose in the bay after repeated swaps.
