The UOTEK UT-2112 is a new DB9 female-to-male isolated converter built to the EIA RS-232 and CCITT V.24 asynchronous standards. It provides 2,500Vrms impulse and 500VDC continuous isolation to protect serial ports from ground-loop voltages, surges, lightning, ESD and electromagnetic interference. The unit operates at 300 to 115,200BPS in full-duplex, full-transparent mode and accepts a 9V to 48V DC supply across a -40 to 85 Celsius range.

Suited for point-to-point RS-232 links needing

Engineers integrating industrial PLCs, meters or legacy equipment where ground potential differences reach 50V to 80V will benefit from the optoelectronic barrier. The adapter is not for systems that require multi-drop networking, differential signalling or powered DB9 pins beyond the 9V to 48V input range. Buyers needing USB, Ethernet or fibre interfaces should select a different converter class.

2,500Vrms impulse isolation rating

This single figure defines whether the adapter can withstand the transient voltages present in a specific installation.
