Industrial RS-232 to RS-485/422 Converter

The UOTEK UT-208 bridges a single RS-232 port to balanced differential RS-485 or RS-422 networks. It targets engineers and integrators who need reliable serial links in noisy industrial environments. The unit operates without external flow-control signals, using automatic data direction control for genuine TXD, RXD and GND communication. It suits legacy equipment upgrades where isolation and surge protection are mandatory.

128-Node Multi-Drop at Up to 5 km

The converter handles baud rates from 300 bps to 115.2 Kbps and supports up to 128 RS-485 or RS-422 devices on one bus. At 9,600 bps the transmission distance reaches 5,000 metres over twisted-pair or shielded cable. Half-duplex RS-485 and full-duplex RS-422 modes are selected automatically without jumpers. The link is limited to asynchronous operation; synchronous protocols are not supported.

2.5 kV Isolation and 600 W Surge Protection

Optoelectronic isolation rated at 2.5 kV rms and a dedicated DC/DC module shield the host side from ground loops. Each RS-485/422 line carries 600 W lightning and surge protection, backed by power and data-flow indicators for quick fault diagnosis. The DB9 female-to-male housing measures 113 by 55 by 25 mm and runs from -40 to 85 °C at 5 to 95 % humidity. No driver installation is required on any operating system.
