The UOTEK UT-885 connects a USB 2.0 port to RS-485 or RS-422 serial networks using a 5-pin terminal block. It supports asynchronous communication in half-duplex or full-duplex modes with automatic direction control. The adapter draws power from the USB bus and works with Windows, Mac, Linux and legacy CE systems.

Check your cabling and device count

Verify that your serial devices use twisted-pair or shielded cable and that the total RS-485/422 bus length stays within 1,200 metres at 9,600 bps. The USB link itself must not exceed 5 metres. Ensure you do not exceed 32 devices on a single multi-point segment and that the baud rate falls between 300 and 921.6 Kbps.
