A 1.5 m USB 2.0 cable converts a USB-A port to RS-232, RS-485 or RS-422 with automatic flow control and ±15 kV surge protection
The UOTEK UT-8890 is a USB 2.0 converter that connects a PC to legacy RS-232, RS-485 or RS-422 equipment. A 1.5 m cable terminates in a USB-A male plug on one side and a DB9 male connector plus a five-position terminal block on the other. Automatic direction control and 15 kV ESD protection keep industrial data links reliable without an external power supply.
Technicians who need to commission or diagnose PLCs, HMIs, meters or barcode scanners over long cable runs will appreciate the 1200 m RS-485/422 reach at 9600 bps. Users whose application demands galvanic isolation, USB 3.x speeds or a locking USB connector should look at a different adapter.
One cable handles RS-232 full-duplex, RS-485 half-duplex and RS-422 full-duplex modes at selectable rates from 300 to 921600 bps, so the converter matches the target device without re-cabling.

The UT-8890 covers RS-232, RS-485 and RS-422 in one cable with a DB9 plug and a 5-bit terminal block; choose it when you need all three standards without buying separate adapters.
It is the maximum serial line speed the converter can drive; real throughput will be lower once protocol overhead, cable length and the attached device's own limits are taken into account.
The link runs at USB 2.0 full-speed (12 Mbps), well above the converter's 921600 bps ceiling, so the USB bus does not bottleneck the serial connection.
