Industrial 8-port serial hub

The USBGear SA-8PX-IS adds eight RS232, RS422 and RS485 serial ports to a computer through a single USB 2.0 connection. It is built for industrial environments that need reliable legacy device connectivity.

921.6 Kbps maximum data rate

Each port supports speeds up to 921.6 Kbps with 3-wire RS232 signalling and 2-wire or 4-wire RS422/485 modes. A 120 OHM terminator can be enabled or disabled by DIP switches for bus matching.

Screw-lock USB and LED status

The USB connector uses a screw-lock mechanism to prevent accidental disconnection. Per-port TXD and RXD LEDs give immediate visual confirmation of signal activity on every channel.

Questions about this item

What real throughput can I expect from the 921.6 Kbps rating when the adapter is connected to a USB 2.0 port?

The USB 2.0 high-speed link runs at 480 Mbit/s, so the 921.6 Kbps serial ceiling is never limited by the USB bus.

Which serial modes are selectable on each of the eight terminal-block ports?

Each port supports RS232 with three-wire TXD, RXD and GND, plus four-wire RS422 and both two-wire and four-wire RS485 operation.

How much rack or panel space does the unit need without its mounting ears?

The bare chassis measures 9.68 in long, 3.37 in wide and 0.91 in high (24.60 cm x 8.57 cm x 2.32 cm).
