Upgrade from worn or missing hand mics

Questions about this item

What connector does the KMC-35 use to attach to Kenwood mobile radios?

The KMC-35 uses an RJ45 8-pin plug that inserts directly into the microphone port on compatible Kenwood models such as the NX700, NX800, TK7160 and TK8180 series.

How is the microphone installed, and what step is often missed?

Align the RJ45 plug with the radio's front-panel mic jack and press firmly until the latch clicks; the step often missed is verifying the latch has engaged, otherwise the connection can work loose under vibration.

Which part of the KMC-35 is most likely to need replacement after extended use?

The coiled cable and its RJ45 connector endure the most flexing and are the components most likely to require replacement after heavy daily use.
