A 1.8 m USB-C to 4.5x3.0 mm cable delivers up to 100 W to Dell laptops rated 90 W or below
This adapter cable connects a USB-C Power Delivery charger to Dell laptops that use a 4.5x3.0mm barrel connector. It supports up to 100W input and is intended for Dell models rated at 90W or below. The 1.8m length provides reach between a wall outlet and a desk or tray.
The cable negotiates power through its built-in PD inducing and E-Mark chips, but the laptop will only draw what its barrel port allows. A charger rated below 90W may not supply enough current for full-speed charging or sustained load. The 4.5x3.0mm tip fits only Dell devices with that exact connector size.
Plug the USB-C end into a compatible PD charger and the barrel tip into the laptop; no drivers are required. Problems usually arise when the charger cannot deliver the negotiated voltage or when the tip is forced into a similar but incorrect Dell port. Verify the laptop’s original adapter specification before use.

The cable supports up to 100 W input, so a 90 W or higher Power Delivery charger will work; the built-in PD and E-Mark chips negotiate the correct voltage for Dell laptops that use the 4.5×3.0 mm tip.
It passes up to 100 W from a compatible USB-C PD charger to the 4.5×3.0 mm barrel connector, but the laptop itself only draws 90 W or less, so the cable will not exceed the laptop’s own limit.
A standard USB-C port without Power Delivery cannot supply the required voltage; you must use a USB-C PD charger of 90 W or above for the adapter cable to function.
