Chip Brush for Oil and Water Paints

This 2-1/2 inch chip brush uses natural China hair bristles set in a tin-plated ferrule on an unfinished wood handle. It is suited for applying oil or water based paints and coatings to concrete, metal or wood surfaces. The soft bristles measure 1-1/2 inches long and 3/8 inch thick for smooth or rough textures.

Natural Bristle Material and Ferrule

China hair filaments hold paint well and release it evenly across walls and other substrates. The tin plated ferrule resists corrosion from solvent based products and keeps the bristles secured to the handle during repeated dipping. No synthetic fillers or plastic components are included in the brush head.

California Proposition 65 Chemical Warning

This product contains a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. Buyers who require a brush without such substances should select an alternative. The restriction does not limit sale in any specific state.

Questions about this item

How often will the China hair bristles need replacing?

Natural bristles wear faster on rough surfaces; plan to replace the brush once the tips lose their flagged ends and paint pickup drops.

What limits how long I can keep painting with this 2-1/2 in chip brush?

The 3/8 in bristle thickness holds a modest paint load, so frequent re-dipping becomes the practical limit during extended sessions.

Does the unfinished wood handle get hot or uncomfortable during all-day use?

Wood stays near ambient temperature and absorbs sweat, so the handle remains comfortable even after hours of continuous painting.
