Product Identity

This is a single 6 inch swivel plate caster rated for 1200 lb. It uses an iron wheel with an iron core and a side brake. The wheel measures 2 inches wide and is non marking. The unit has no swivel lock included.

Upgrade Context

It replaces a worn or fixed caster on wheelbarrows and carts. The jump is worth it when the existing caster cannot swivel or lacks a brake. Buyers who need a twin set or a matching rigid caster will need additional units.

Installation Notes

The plate mounts with four bolts to a flat frame. The side brake engages the wheel tread directly. What usually goes wrong is bolt pattern mismatch or insufficient clearance for the brake lever swing.

Questions about this item

What are the plate dimensions and bolt-hole spacing for the 6 in. swivel caster?

The caster mounts on a standard top plate; bolt-hole spacing follows the common 2-3/8 in. by 3-5/8 in. pattern used on 6 in. industrial swivel plate casters.

How do you install the side brake on this caster, and what step is often missed?

Bolt the plate to the frame, then swing the side brake lever down until it clicks onto the wheel tread; the missed step is tightening the brake adjustment nut so the lever locks with firm pressure.

When should the iron wheel or side brake be replaced on a 1200 lb caster?

Replace the iron wheel if the tread shows flat spots, cracks, or exceeds 1/8 in. wear; replace the side brake if the lever no longer locks or the spring loses tension.
