450 lb Swivel Plate Caster

This swivel plate caster supports a 450 lb load rating and uses a 4 in iron wheel with a 1 1/2 in width. It is designed for wheelbarrows and carts that require a durable, single-wheel caster. The black finish and side brake provide secure positioning on flat surfaces. Builders moving heavy garden or workshop loads will find it suitable.

Side brake and iron wheel limits

The side brake holds the wheel in place but does not lock the swivel head, so the caster can still rotate under lateral force. Iron tread material is non-marking on concrete but can damage delicate flooring if dragged. The fixed 4 in diameter limits obstacle clearance compared to larger wheels. Buyers who need a total-lock brake or a larger diameter for rough terrain should look elsewhere.

Replaces worn fixed or lighter casters

This unit upgrades a worn fixed caster or a lower-rated swivel caster on an existing wheelbarrow or cart. The 450 lb capacity and iron construction extend service life under heavy, repeated loads. The jump is worth it when the current caster fails to swivel freely or cannot hold the required weight. Buyers who need a matching set of four for a new build should verify mounting pattern compatibility first.

Questions about this item

Which version of this caster should I choose for my cart?

This single caster has a 4-inch iron wheel with side brake and non-marking tread; select the quantity needed to match your cart's mounting pattern.

What does the 450 lb load rating mean once the caster is installed?

Each caster is rated for 450 lb, so the total capacity depends on how many casters share the load evenly across the frame.

What interface does the plate use and what does it limit in practice?

The plate bolts to flat surfaces with standard hole spacing, limiting use to equipment that accepts this bolt pattern.
