Standard-Duty Polyethylene Tarp

The Zoro Select tarp is a 6 x 8 ft polyethylene sheet built for general-purpose coverage. Its transparent finish lets light pass through while shielding surfaces from rain and debris. Aluminium grommets spaced 36 in apart provide reliable tie-down points for temporary shelters or equipment wraps.

Sustained Outdoor Exposure

Heat-sealed seams and a rope-reinforced hem resist tearing when the tarp is tensioned over frames or loads for extended periods. The material is rated waterproof, mildew resistant and UV resistant, so it maintains integrity through repeated wet-dry cycles and prolonged sunlight without becoming brittle.

5.1 mil Thickness Decides Suitability

At 5.1 mil thick and 3.4 oz per square yard, this standard-duty tarp balances flexibility with puncture resistance for light construction, gardening or storage tasks. It is not intended for heavy industrial abrasion, high-wind permanent structures or applications requiring fire-retardant certification.

Questions about this item

Does the polyethylene material trap heat when the tarp covers equipment all day in direct sun?

The transparent 5.1 mil polyethylene lets light through, so covered items receive full solar gain; heat buildup depends on ventilation underneath rather than the tarp itself.

What mounting hardware is required to secure the aluminum grommets spaced 36 in apart?

You need rope, bungee cords or tie-down straps that fit through the reinforced aluminum grommets; the tarp includes no fasteners.

Will the 3.4 oz/sq yd fabric weight tear if laid over rough pallet edges or sharp corners?

The standard-duty polyethylene is tear-resistant and rope-reinforced, but sharp edges can still puncture 5.1 mil material; add a protective layer for abrasive surfaces.
