What this cable does

This is a Cat 5E crossover patch cord with RJ45 connectors on both ends. It links two network devices directly without a switch or router. The ten‑foot length suits desktop-to-desktop or laptop-to-NAS runs on a bench or in a small rack.

Crossover wiring is the deciding spec

The cable is wired as a crossover, so transmit pairs on one end connect to receive pairs on the other. Choose it only when you need direct device‑to‑device links; standard straight‑through cables will not work for that purpose.

Fits a direct‑connect setup

It plugs into any RJ45 port on NICs, NAS boxes or embedded boards and needs no external power. The unshielded jacket keeps the cable flexible for tight routing, while the orange jacket makes the link easy to trace in a crowded patch panel.

Questions about this item

What speeds can I expect from a Cat 5E cable like this one in a real network?

Cat 5E supports Gigabit Ethernet up to 1 Gbps over the full 10 ft length, which covers most home and office internet plans.

The cable uses RJ45 connectors — does that limit the link to a certain standard?

RJ45 is the standard connector for twisted-pair Ethernet; with Cat 5E wiring it caps the link at 1 Gbps, not 10 Gbps.

Will this 10 ft orange cable reach between my wall jack and a desktop PC without strain?

At 10 ft the cable spans a typical desk-to-wall run with slack for routing around furniture or through a grommet.
