Heavy-Duty Trailer Plug

The Velvac 55049 is a 6-way trailer plug built with a zinc die-cast housing and brass contacts. It suits owners who need a rugged connection for towing or plowing equipment. The plug locking system works with a socket door to ensure proper hook-up and prevent unintentional disconnections.

Included Spring Guard

A spring guard is supplied with the plug to support and protect the attached cable. This accessory reduces strain at the connection point and helps maintain reliable contact during vehicle movement. No additional software or separate accessories are mentioned in the product data.

6-Way Connection Type

The plug provides a 6-way connection interface designed for use with compatible cables. Brass contacts deliver conductivity for the required circuits. Buyers needing a different pin count or a socket rather than a plug will need another solution.

Questions about this item

Will the brass contacts on this 6-way trailer plug need periodic cleaning or replacement?

Brass contacts resist corrosion but should be inspected and cleaned if oxidation appears; no scheduled replacement interval is defined by the manufacturer.

What is the first limitation that appears when this zinc die-cast plug carries continuous current on all six circuits?

The plastic insulation and spring guard set the practical temperature ceiling, so sustained heavy loads will hit thermal limits before the brass contacts or zinc housing do.

Does the heavy-duty zinc housing and spring guard add noticeable heat or electrical resistance during all-day towing?

The zinc housing and brass contacts add negligible resistance; the spring guard only supports the cable and does not affect heat or power loss.
