Velvac 708446 Spot Mirror Overview

This convex blind-spot mirror measures 8 1/2 inches in diameter and fits driver or passenger sides. The stainless-steel backing carries a black powder-coated finish for corrosion resistance. It is a non-heated, non-motorised unit designed for commercial and fleet vehicles.

Thermal and Power Characteristics

The mirror has no heating element or motor, so it draws no electrical power and generates no heat during operation. There are no moving parts or fans, making it completely silent in all conditions. Installation adds no load to the vehicle electrical system.

Mounting and Accessory Impact

An offset mounting bracket is included to position the mirror away from the vehicle body for a wider field of view. The stainless-steel bracket and powder-coated backing resist road salt and weather without additional treatments. No wiring harnesses, switches or software are supplied or required.

Questions about this item

How is the Velvac 708446 spot mirror attached to the vehicle?

The mirror uses an offset mount that bolts to the existing door or body panel; the step often missed is torquing the stainless-steel backing plate evenly so the convex glass stays aligned.

What part of the Velvac 708446 will need replacement first?

The powder-coated stainless-steel backing resists corrosion, but the convex glass surface can pit from road debris and is the only component likely to require swapping.

What limits visibility when driving long distances with this mirror?

The fixed 8 1/2 in convex diameter gives a constant wide-angle view; eye fatigue from the distorted edge is the practical limit rather than any mechanical restriction.
