Ultra-wide 15mm full-frame lens delivers 0.5× macro magnification at 12.9 cm focus with 110.5° view and auto aperture for Nikon Z
The Venus Optics Laowa 15mm f/4.5 delivers 0.5X magnification at a 15mm focal length for full-frame Nikon Z cameras. It focuses as close as 5.08 inches with a working distance of 1.42 inches, letting photographers place small subjects within expansive scenes. The 110.5° angle of view suits landscape, architecture and creative close-up work. Auto-aperture control simplifies exposure handling on compatible bodies.
The lens operates at a constant f/4.5 maximum aperture, which restricts low-light capability and shallow depth-of-field control compared to faster designs. Focus is manual only, so tracking moving subjects or quick recomposition is slower than with autofocus alternatives. The 110.5° field of view introduces noticeable perspective distortion at the edges, which may not suit architectural shots requiring straight lines. Close-up work at 12.9 cm minimum focus demands careful lighting placement due to the short working distance.
Weighing 0.68 lb (308 g), the lens is light enough for extended handheld use and travel kits. Its 16 elements in 11 groups include two aspherical, three high-refractive and three extra-low dispersion pieces to suppress distortion and chromatic aberration. A detachable lens hood is supplied to reduce flare in the ultra-wide field. The Nikon Z mount version provides electronic aperture linkage, while other mounts rely on manual aperture rings.

The Nikon Z version provides auto-aperture control, while Canon RF and L-mount versions are manual-aperture only. Choose Z if you need electronic aperture operation.
At 0.5x magnification you capture subjects at half life-size on the sensor, with a minimum focus distance of 129 mm and a working distance of 36 mm from the front element.
The Z mount enables auto-aperture operation, so the camera body sets the f-stop electronically instead of requiring a manual aperture ring on the lens barrel.
