A maintenance-bypass power distribution unit with four NEMA 5-15/20R, one L14-30R and one L6-30R output receptacles for GXT5 5-10kVA UPS models
The Vertiv PD5001 is a power output distribution unit designed for GXT5 5-10kVA uninterruptible power supply models. It provides a maintenance bypass that allows UPS servicing or replacement without interrupting power to connected equipment. The unit automatically transfers the load to the utility source during a UPS failure. It is intended for IT managers and facility operators who require continuous uptime for critical systems.
As a passive distribution and bypass module, the PD5001 generates no audible noise and draws negligible power during normal operation. Thermal output is minimal because the unit simply routes current through its internal switch and connectors. It requires no active cooling and adds no measurable heat load to the rack or room environment. Reliability depends on the quality of the upstream UPS and utility feed.
This module replaces the original POD box mounted on the rear of compatible GXT5 UPS models. The upgrade is worth it when the existing distribution lacks the required NEMA 5-15/20R, L14-30R or L6-30R output mix or when a maintenance bypass is absent. It is not suitable for non-GXT5 UPS models, for installations that need different output connectors, or for users who require network management features not present on this hardware.

Slide the unit into the UPS rear bay, secure the mounting screws, then plug the L14-30P input into the UPS output receptacle; the step often missed is tightening the captive screws on the input plug to prevent it from vibrating loose.
Periodically inspect the six output receptacles — four 5-15/20R, one L14-30R, one L6-30R — and the L14-30P inlet for discolouration or loose contacts; no internal batteries or filters require replacement.
The 30 A rating of the L14-30P input and L14-30R/L6-30R outputs is the first hard limit; exceeding it will trip the upstream breaker before any thermal issue appears in the unit itself.
