Threadlocker for Medium-Strength Fastening

Vibra-TITE 122 is a blue anaerobic threadlocker supplied in a one-litre bottle. It is formulated for general-purpose assembly where bolts and studs must resist vibration yet remain removable with hand tools. Mechanics and maintenance teams use it on equipment that requires periodic disassembly without heat.

Anaerobic Cure Requires Metal Contact

The adhesive only polymerises when confined between close-fitting metal threads and isolated from oxygen. Large gaps, non-metallic substrates or exposure to air during application will prevent full cure. Users must ensure surfaces are clean and the joint design allows the liquid to fill the thread engagement completely.

Medium Strength Defines the Service Window

The 122 formulation targets a breakaway torque that holds fasteners under normal vibration but yields to standard hand tools. It is not intended for permanent locking or for applications where high-temperature resistance or extreme chemical exposure are specified.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 1 L bottle or a smaller size for occasional repairs?

The 1 L bottle suits high-volume or workshop use; smaller containers are better for occasional jobs to avoid waste.

What does the medium-strength rating mean once the fastener is assembled?

Medium strength allows disassembly with standard hand tools while resisting vibration loosening in service.

How does the anaerobic threadlocker chemistry limit where it can be used?

It cures only in the absence of air between metal threads, so it will not work on plastic fasteners or large gaps.
