Purpose & audience

The Victron Energy Orion IP67 24/12-10A is a 120 W DC-DC converter that steps 24 V input down to 12 V at 10 A. It suits marine, automotive or off-grid installers who need a rugged, sealed power supply for 12 V loads.

Build integration

The unit accepts a wide 15 V to 40 V input range, so it tolerates voltage sag or surge from shared batteries. Encapsulation and 1.8 m cables eliminate the need for extra junctions in wet or dirty locations.

Thermals, noise & power

Convection cooling through the cast-aluminium resin-moulded case means silent operation with no moving parts. Over-temperature protection allows use in hot machine rooms while maintaining a stable 12 V output.

Questions about this item

How much continuous current can the Orion IP67 24/12-10A deliver before its thermal protection activates?

The converter is rated for 10 A continuous output at 12 V, and it is protected against overheating so it will reduce power rather than fail when the case temperature rises.

What is the typical fan noise or case temperature when the unit runs at full load for hours in a machine room?

The Orion IP67 has no fan; its cast-aluminium resin-encapsulated case dissipates heat silently, and the manufacturer notes it can be used in hot environments such as machine rooms.

Which battery cables or connectors must I already have to install this DC-DC converter?

The unit ships with 1.8 m input and output cables already attached, so no additional cable assemblies are required for a standard installation.
