Indoor wired dome cameras

The VideoSecu DM10W2 pack contains two white dome cameras built for indoor CCTV systems. Each unit uses a color CCD sensor and connects through a BNC video cable to an analog DVR. They are aimed at installers and homeowners expanding or repairing a standard-definition surveillance setup. The cameras require a separate 12 V DC power source and a compatible DVR for recording.

420 TVL analog resolution

The single specification that decides fit is the 420 TV Lines maximum horizontal resolution delivered over an analog BNC link. This signal level matches legacy DVRs that accept NTSC composite video; it will not work with HD-SDI, AHD, TVI, CVI or IP recorders. Buyers needing 720p, 1080p or higher definition must choose a different technology.

Adjustable mount with fixed lens

Each dome offers 360-degree horizontal and 90-degree vertical manual adjustment so the 3.6 mm wide-angle lens can be aimed after mounting. The fixed focal length cannot be changed, so the field of view is set at installation. Common issues include forgetting the separate 12 V power supply, connecting to an incompatible HD recorder, or expecting wireless operation.

Questions about this item

What does 420 TVL resolution actually deliver on a standard analogue DVR?

The camera produces 420 TV lines of horizontal detail, which the DVR records at the full analogue resolution the format allows.

How does the BNC video connection limit the signal?

The wired BNC output carries a standard NTSC analogue signal, so the maximum usable resolution is capped at the 420 TVL the sensor provides.

What mounting space and adjustment range does the dome need?

The compact dome fits in a small indoor cut-out and can be manually aimed 360 degrees horizontally and 90 degrees vertically after installation.
