What this camera is and who it is for

The VideoSecu VD21W-A1 is an analog CCTV dome camera with a 1/3 inch CCD sensor and 480 TV Lines resolution. It uses a 3.6mm wide angle lens and 20 IR LEDs for night vision down to 0.0 Lux. The white aluminium housing is weatherproof and vandal resistant for indoor or outdoor mounting. It ships with a 12V DC power adapter and a warning sticker.

Check your existing setup before ordering

This camera requires a traditional analog DVR with BNC video inputs and separate cabling; it will not work with HD, IP or wireless recorders. Verify that your recorder accepts standard composite video over coaxial cable and supplies 12V DC power. The camera cannot operate as a standalone device and needs a monitor or recording system to display footage.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

Suits installers maintaining or expanding a legacy analog surveillance system that is roughly 10 years old. Not suitable for buyers wanting a modern HD, wireless or Wi-Fi camera, or anyone building a new security system without an existing analog DVR and cabling infrastructure.

Questions about this item

Does the box include everything needed to start recording, or do I need a separate DVR and cables?

The package contains the camera, a 12 V power adapter and a warning sticker. A traditional analog DVR, coaxial cable and monitor are not included and must be purchased separately.

Why choose the 3.6 mm lens version instead of a different focal length?

The 3.6 mm wide-angle lens gives a broad field of view suited for general indoor or outdoor coverage; other focal lengths are not offered for this model.

What does the 480 TVL resolution mean when the camera is connected to an analog DVR?

It delivers up to 480 TV lines of horizontal detail in colour by day and switches to black-and-white with the 20 IR LEDs active at 0.0 lux for night recording.
