A .43x wide-angle converter that doubles the field of view on 40.5mm filter threads, with a macro attachment for close-ups
The Vivitar 40.5 mm .43x wide-angle converter attaches to the filter threads of Sony FE 400 mm f/2.8 GM, 600 mm f/2.8 GB and EPZ 16-50 mm OSS lenses. It multiplies the focal length by .43, doubling the angle of view for expansive scenic, architectural and group compositions. All-glass multicoated optics are housed in a titanium barrel for durability.
Photographers who need a broader field of view without changing position will benefit from the converter and its included macro attachment for close-up work. It is not intended for shooters who require the original telephoto reach of the host lens or who need autofocus performance unaffected by additional glass.
The converter mounts directly to 58 mm filter threads; a stepping ring adapts it to other thread sizes such as the 40.5 mm front of the 16-50 mm OSS. No power or electronic coupling is required, leaving the camera’s native metering and stabilisation active while the macro attachment enables detailed near-subject capture.

The converter mounts on a 58 mm thread; use a 40.5 mm-to-58 mm stepping ring for the 16-50 mm OSS or other 40.5 mm threaded lenses.
The converter is designed for 58 mm threads common on wide-to-normal zooms; super-telephoto lenses like the 400 mm and 600 mm GM use much larger threads, so direct attachment is not possible.
Compare the field of view at the same distance — the scene should appear roughly twice as wide — then engage the macro attachment and confirm sharp focus at very close range.
