Bulk Cat5e cable for installers

This VIVO Cat5e UTP cable comes as a 1000 ft pull-box roll intended for indoor network wiring. The solid 24 AWG conductors are copper-clad aluminium and the jacket is dark grey. No connectors are fitted so lengths can be cut to suit each run.

CCA construction limits certification

The copper-clad aluminium conductors mean this cable carries no UL, NEC, ETL or TIA certification. Because of that construction it is not recommended for Power over Ethernet applications.

Suited for basic indoor patching

Installers pulling standard patch or crossover cables for indoor LAN drops will find the spool box convenient. Buyers who need certified cable for code compliance or who plan to run PoE devices should look at solid copper alternatives.

Questions about this item

What does the Cat5e rating actually deliver once the cable is terminated and running in a real network?

The Cat5e rating supports Gigabit Ethernet speeds up to 100 MHz bandwidth when properly terminated, suitable for typical home and office LAN connections.

How does the unshielded twisted-pair construction and CCA conductors limit what this cable can carry in practice?

UTP design offers no shielding against electromagnetic interference, and the copper-clad aluminium conductors increase resistance, so the cable is not certified for PoE and lacks UL, NEC, ETL or TIA listings.

What physical space and mounting does the 1000 ft pull-box need for a clean installation?

The spool box is designed to sit on a flat surface or shelf while cable feeds out; allow enough clearance around the box for the 1000 ft roll to unwind without kinking.
