5 MP outdoor dome with cloud license

The VIVOTEK FD837-HTV-1Y is a 5 MP outdoor dome network camera built for installations that need motorised varifocal adjustment and a bundled one-year Vortex Standard cloud licence. It suits integrators and site managers who want remote focus, 164 ft IR night vision and two-way audio in a single PoE-powered unit.

PoE Class 4 power and 15 fps ceiling

The camera draws up to 22.5 W over IEEE 802.3at PoE Class 4 with IR on, falling to 18 W when IR is off, and also accepts DC 12 V or AC 24 V for redundancy. Video tops out at 2560 x 1920 at 15 fps, so motion-heavy scenes will not benefit from higher frame rates and bandwidth planning must accommodate the fixed throughput limit.

Check mount clearance and storage strategy

Verify that the mounting surface allows the full pan range of +/-175° and tilt of 80° without obstruction. The built-in 256 GB industrial SD card handles local recording, but continuous 2K streams can fill it quickly; confirm whether your VMS or the Vortex cloud plan provides the retention depth the site requires.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 2.7 mm or 13.5 mm end of the varifocal range for a 30-metre driveway?

Use the motorised remote focus to zoom between 2.7 mm (95° horizontal) for wide coverage and 13.5 mm (30° horizontal) for distant detail; adjust after mounting to match the exact scene.

What does the 2560 x 1920 at 15 fps figure mean for recorded footage?

The camera captures 5 MP frames at 15 fps, giving smooth 2K video with a 1/2.8" progressive CMOS sensor; each frame is 2560 x 1920 pixels.

How much power does the PoE Class 4 connection actually draw when IR is on?

PoE supplies up to 22.5 W with IR on and 18 W with IR off, compliant with IEEE 802.3at Class 4.
