16-inch cash drawer overview

The Volcora CD-5W is a 16-inch cash drawer built with heavy-gauge steel for commercial environments. It operates on 24VDC power and connects to a receipt or thermal printer via an included RJ11/RJ12 cable. A crisp white finish provides a professional appearance for point-of-sale stations.

Who this suits and who it does not

This drawer suits retailers needing a durable, printer-driven cash drawer with a three-position key lock for manual, automatic, or locked operation. It is not for operators who require a USB or direct POS connection, as the unit lacks a USB port and must be triggered by a compatible printer. Buyers needing an integrated bell or a different dimensions should consider other models.

Critical specification: printer-driven RJ11/RJ12

The drawer opens automatically only when driven by a receipt printer through the RJ11/RJ12 kick interface, so a compatible printer is mandatory for auto-open function. The package includes the necessary network cable and four keys for the three-position lock. Verify your printer supports this interface before purchasing.

Questions about this item

How do I confirm the drawer opens automatically after connecting the RJ11 cable to my receipt printer?

Set the 3-position key lock to position 2 and send a test print; the drawer should kick open via the 24VDC micro switch driven by the printer.

What ships in the box and what must I provide separately?

The package includes the 16x16x3.5 inch steel drawer, removable coin compartment, RJ11/RJ12 cable, and four keys; you must supply a compatible receipt or thermal printer with a drawer-kick port.

Which version should I choose — Keyed Random or No Bell?

Choose Keyed Random if you need a unique lock combination per drawer, or No Bell if you prefer the same key across multiple units and do not require an audible bell.
