Solo 10x36 monocular for outdoor observation

The Vortex Solo is a compact, waterproof monocular built for hikers, birdwatchers and hunters who need a single-handed optic. Its 10x magnification and 36 mm objective bring distant subjects closer without the bulk of a binocular. An integral carry clip secures the unit to a belt or strap for instant access.

Practical limits of 10x36 optics

A 6.2-degree angle of view gives a wide field for scanning treelines or ridgelines, yet the 36 mm aperture limits low-light brightness compared with larger objectives. Hand-held 10x magnification amplifies shake, so steady bracing or a rest improves detail at range. The fully multi-coated roof prism maintains contrast and colour fidelity in daylight conditions.

Upgrading from pocket binoculars or no optic

The Solo replaces compact binoculars when weight and one-hand operation matter more than stereoscopic depth. It adds waterproof durability and a belt-mounted clip that most pocket glasses lack. The jump is worth it for users who prioritise fast deployment and minimal pack volume over maximum light gathering.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 10x36 or a different magnification for general outdoor use?

The 10x36 Solo gives 10× magnification with a 36 mm objective, balancing detail and brightness for birdwatching or hunting in a compact body.

What does the 10× magnification actually show me in the field?

Objects appear ten times closer than with the naked eye, and the 6.2° angle of view provides a wide scene for tracking moving subjects.

Does the roof-prism, fully multi-coated optical system need a specific mount or adapter?

No mount is required; the integral carry clip attaches directly to a belt, strap or webbing for immediate hand-free access.
