HDMI Audio Extractor 4K 30Hz

The VPFET EDUPUP extracts audio from an HDMI source and sends it to an AV receiver through optical or 3.5 mm connections. It supports 2.0CH stereo, 5.1CH surround and a PASS mode for troubleshooting. The unit handles video up to 4K at 30 Hz with HDCP 1.4 compliance. It is designed for Blu-ray players, game consoles and PCs that lack dedicated audio outputs.

Check source device and output settings

The extractor does not accept a TV as the input source and will not pass video if one is used. Fire TV, Apple TV, PS4 and PS5 are limited to 1080p signals and cannot output 4K through this adapter. ARC and eARC are not supported. If no sound is heard, set the source device audio format to PCM before switching modes.

Modes and power change the connection

Select 2.0CH mode for the 3.5 mm stereo jack and 5.1CH mode for the optical output carrying DTS 5.1. Use PASS mode when both audio and video disappear in the other settings. The aluminium enclosure measures 58 x 52 x 22 mm and draws power from any 5 V USB port or adapter, so no separate power supply is required.

Questions about this item

Does the extractor include HDMI, optical or 3.5 mm cables in the box, or do I need to supply them myself?

The package contains only the extractor unit; HDMI, optical and 3.5 mm cables must be purchased separately.

When should I choose 2.0CH, 5.1CH or PASS mode on the EDUPUP?

Use 2.0CH for 3.5 mm stereo, 5.1CH for optical DTS 5.1, and PASS if neither mode delivers audio and video.

What does the 4K 30 Hz rating mean when the extractor is connected to a Fire TV or PS5?

Those sources output only 1080p through this device; 4K 30 Hz is available with other HDMI 1.4 sources.
