Questions about this item

How much heat does the 20 V 4.5 A brick generate when powering a ThinkPad T430 all day?

The adapter includes overload and over-temperature protection, so it will throttle or shut down before reaching unsafe temperatures during continuous use.

Which connector must my laptop already have for this 7.9 mm × 5.5 mm tip to fit?

Your ThinkPad needs the matching 7.9 mm outer-diameter, 5.5 mm inner-diameter barrel jack used on the listed T, X, L and Edge models.

Will this 20 V 4.5 A unit safely charge an older ThinkPad X61 that originally shipped with a lower-wattage supply?

Yes — the adapter’s short-circuit, overload and over-temperature protections allow it to power compatible legacy models such as the X61 without damage.
