Vszerda 5hv2 USB 2.0 Audio Adapter

The Vszerda 5hv2 is a USB 2.0 external audio adapter that adds virtual 7.1 channel surround sound to a desktop or notebook. It draws power from the USB bus and includes Xear 3D simulation software for Windows XP and Vista. No driver installation is required for basic audio playback on supported systems.

Suits users adding surround sound to legacy PCs

This adapter suits users who want virtual 7.1 audio on older Windows versions from 98SE through Vista, plus Linux and MacOS 10 or higher, using existing stereo speakers or headphones. It is not for buyers who need hardware-accelerated 7.1 decoding, multi-channel analogue outputs, or a physical volume and mute control on the device itself.

USB 2.0 Full-Speed 12 Mbps interface

The single specification that decides fit is the USB 2.0 Full-Speed connection rated at 12 Mbps, which sets the bandwidth available for the virtual 7.1 processing and stereo output. Systems must provide a standard USB Type-A port; no external power supply is used.

Questions about this item

Will the 7.1 channel adapter work on a desktop that only has USB 1.1 ports?

Yes, the adapter is compatible with USB 1.0 and 1.1 as well as USB 2.0 full-speed at 12Mbps, so it will function on older USB ports.

How can I confirm the virtual 7.1 surround sound is active after plugging it in?

After installing the bundled Xear 3D software on Windows XP or Vista, the on-screen control panel shows microphone mute, speaker mute and volume keys that indicate the virtual 7.1 processing is running.

Does the package include a microphone or do I need to buy one separately?

The box contains only the USB external sound card; a mono microphone is optional and must be purchased separately if required.
