Vszerda FireWire 400 6-pin cable 1.8m
This Vszerda cable is a 1.8-metre IEEE 1394 FireWire 400 link with 6-pin connectors at both ends. It uses a pure copper core and gold-plated plugs to carry video, audio and data between compatible devices. The shielding is designed to reduce external electromagnetic interference for a stable signal. The cable is supplied new and supports plug-and-play operation.
Suits 6-pin FireWire 400 ports only
It fits camcorders, DV decks, video capture cards and laptops that present a standard 6-pin IEEE 1394 port. Devices that use a 4-pin mini connector or a 9-pin port cannot attach directly to this cable. Buyers needing those physical interfaces should select a different lead.
400 Mbps IEEE 1394 data rate
The single specification that decides fit is the 400 Mbps FireWire 400 signalling rate defined by IEEE 1394. If the host and peripheral both list 6-pin FireWire 400 compliance this cable will carry the signal; otherwise it will not function.

Questions about this item
What does the 400 Mbps rating mean when I connect this cable to my DV camcorder?
It sets the maximum data rate the link can sustain, so DV footage transfers at full native speed without dropped frames.
Which FireWire standard does the 6-pin to 6-pin connector follow, and what does that limit?
The cable is fully IEEE 1394 compliant, so it caps at the 400 Mbps S400 signalling rate defined by that standard.
How long is the cable and will it reach from my laptop to a desktop capture card?
The cable measures 1.8 m end to end, giving enough slack for a typical desk-to-tower run.
