Compact HDMI switch and splitter

This bi-directional unit connects two sources to one display or one source to two displays, switching with a single button. It fits small desks or entertainment centres and removes the clutter of constantly swapping cables. The metal housing aids heat dissipation and requires no external power adapter. Ideal for users who alternate between a console and a PC or between two TVs in different rooms.

Switching modes and cable limits

In switch mode you toggle between two connected devices on one screen; in splitter mode you choose which of two screens receives the signal from a single source. Only one output is active at a time in splitter mode. The supplier notes that standard HDMI 2.0 cables must be used and the total cable run should not exceed 6.6 ft for reliable 4K@60Hz transmission. HDMI cables are not included in the package.

18 Gbps bandwidth for 4K@60Hz

The built-in IC chip delivers 18 Gbps bandwidth, enabling uncompressed 4K@60Hz video with HDR and HDCP 2.2 support. It also passes 1080P@120Hz and multichannel audio formats including 7.1, 5.1 and 2.0 channels. Buyers who need simultaneous output on two displays or bandwidth above 18 Gbps for higher refresh rates at 4K should consider a different solution.

Questions about this item

Will the metal casing need any thermal paste or pad replacement over time?

The aluminium housing acts as a passive heatsink with no internal thermal interfaces that degrade, so no paste or pad maintenance is required.

What bandwidth ceiling limits 4K@60Hz HDR streams through the built-in IC?

The integrated chip tops out at 18 Gbps, so full 4K 60 Hz 4:4:4 HDR fits, but higher refresh rates or 12-bit colour would exceed the link.

Does the switch draw measurable power or generate audible noise when left on all day?

It is bus-powered from the HDMI sources, consumes only milliwatts, has no fan or moving parts, and runs completely silent.
