R740 Workstation DVD Drive Power Cable

This cable is a direct replacement power lead for the optical drive in a Dell R740 workstation. It connects the system power supply to a 14 generation RW drive using the YKCV5 or 0YKCV5 connector. The part is intended for technicians servicing or upgrading that specific server platform.

Installation notes and common issues

The cable plugs straight into the drive and power supply without tools, but the routing inside a 2U chassis is tight and the connector keying must match exactly. Builders often order the wrong variant because several similar cables exist for adjacent generations, so verify the YKCV5 part number before fitting.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the YKCV5 cable is delivering power to the DVD RW drive after installation?

The drive should spin up and be recognised in the system BIOS or operating system once the cable is seated correctly on the R740 workstation power supply and the 14 generation drive connector.

What connectors are included with the Vszerda YKCV5 cable and do I need any extra adapters for a 14 generation RW drive?

The cable has the proprietary power supply plug for the R740 workstation on one end and the matching drive connector for the 14 generation RW drive on the other; no separate adapters are required.
