USB breakaway adapter for Xbox 360 controllers

This two-piece set provides a detachable USB connection for wired Xbox 360 controllers used on a PC. The dongle separates under tension to protect both the controller cable and the host port from damage. It is intended for players who prefer a wired pad but want a safety release during active play.

Behaviour under repeated strain

The breakaway mechanism is designed to disconnect cleanly when the cable is pulled, then reconnect when pushed back together. No moving parts inside the adapter wear out during normal use, so the release force stays consistent over many cycles. Users who routinely yank the cable harder than the release threshold may eventually loosen the friction fit.

Questions about this item

Does the breakaway dongle draw extra power or generate heat when the Xbox 360 controller runs all day?

The adapter is a passive cable with no electronics, so it adds no power draw or heat during extended use.

What must I already own for these breakaway cables to work with my setup?

You need an Xbox 360 wired controller or a PC with a standard USB-A port to plug the dongle into.
