What the trigger and tips change

The integrated PD emulator at the Type-C female end requests 18–20 V from a 65 W or 87 W charger, so the cable works without a separate adapter block. Both 5.5 × 2.5 mm and 2.1 mm barrel tips are supplied, covering two common centre-pin sizes. The charger must exceed the laptop’s draw, otherwise the trigger will not activate the higher voltage rail.

Suits owners of 18–20 V barrel-jack laptops who already carry a 65 W or 87 W USB-C PD charger and want a single-cable travel setup. Not for devices that charge at 5 V or 9 V only, nor for barrels larger than 5.5 mm or smaller than 2.1 mm.
