Raspberry Pi Battery HAT
The WaveShare Li-ion Battery HAT Adapter mounts directly on a Raspberry Pi and delivers a regulated 5 V supply from a lithium cell. Onboard SW6106 silicon handles bi-directional quick charging so the same connector powers the board and recharges the battery. Integrated protection guards against reverse polarity, over-charge, over-discharge, over-current and short circuits. Three status LEDs show quick-charge activity, warnings and remaining capacity.
Build integration and power flexibility
The HAT draws its energy from a single lithium cell you provide, freeing the Pi from a tethered mains adaptor for portable or UPS-style deployments. Because the SW6106 manages both charge and discharge paths, the Pi stays powered while the battery tops up from any compatible USB-C source. No extra wiring or external regulator is required beyond the 40-pin header connection.
Bundled protection and monitoring
The factory-fitted protection circuitry replaces separate battery-management modules, reducing component count and board space. Onboard indicators eliminate the need for custom voltage-monitoring code or external meters, letting scripts read charge state through simple GPIO polling. The multi-protocol charge negotiator works with common PD, QC, FCP, PE and SFCP chargers without extra configuration.

Questions about this item
What protection circuits limit the battery during sustained use?
The onboard circuitry provides reverse protection, over-charge and over-discharge protection, over-current protection and short-circuit protection.
Does the SW6106 chip generate noticeable heat or noise during all-day operation?
The adapter has no fan and relies on passive cooling; heat output depends on the charge current and battery used.
Which Raspberry Pi models and batteries are required for this HAT to work?
It mounts on a Raspberry Pi with a standard 40-pin GPIO header and requires a compatible lithium-ion battery.
