Product fit

This hard-shell case fits only the MacBook Pro 15.4-inch Retina Display model A1398 released from late 2012 through 2015. It snaps on without blocking any ports and leaves the Apple logo visible through the material. Ventilation slots and rubberised feet help manage heat and keep the laptop stable on a desk. The wine-red finish adds colour while guarding against shocks, scratches and dust.

Compatibility limits

Buyers with a 13-inch MacBook Pro, any MacBook Air, the pre-Retina 15-inch model A1286 or the 2016–2017 Touch Bar model A1707 cannot use this case. It is also unsuitable for anyone needing a soft sleeve, a carrying bag or a case with a cut-out for the logo. Check the A1xxx number on the bottom of the laptop before ordering.

Deciding specification

The sole specification that determines fit is the laptop model number A1398. Only MacBook Pro 15.4-inch Retina Display units from 2012 to 2015 carry this identifier; any other model number means the case will not attach correctly.

Questions about this item

Will the snap-on clips on the A1398 case loosen after repeated removal?

The snap-on design is built for easy on and off; clips may loosen over very long use, at which point the case would need replacement.

Does the hard shell block the MacBook Pro 15.4 A1398 vent slots during sustained loads?

Ventilation areas in the case align with the laptop vents, so airflow is maintained even during all-day workloads.

How much heat builds up on the Wine Red case surface when the MacBook Pro A1398 runs all day?

The case material stays close to ambient temperature because vent slots allow continuous air flow through the shell.
