24TB RAID Storage for Desktop Users

The Western Digital My Book Duo provides 24TB of storage in a two-drive desktop enclosure. It connects via USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C and includes both USB-C and USB-A cables for broad compatibility. Hardware-based 256-bit AES encryption protects data with a password. The unit ships formatted NTFS for immediate use on Windows.

Suits Creative Archives and Local Backups

Photographers, video editors and home-office workers who need a single high-capacity volume for active projects or automated backups will benefit from the default RAID-0 configuration. The integrated two-port USB hub adds convenience for connecting peripherals. Users who require data redundancy should reconfigure to RAID-1 using the supplied WD Drive Utilities, which halves usable capacity. Buyers who need more than two drive bays or who require hardware RAID levels beyond RAID-0 and RAID-1 will not find those options here.

Default RAID-0 Configuration Decides Capacity vs

Out of the box the drive operates as a single 24TB RAID-0 volume for maximum speed and space. Switching to RAID-1 mirrors the drives for fault tolerance but reduces available storage to 12TB. The choice between full capacity and mirrored protection is the specification that determines whether this unit matches the workflow.

Questions about this item

How loud is the My Book Duo 24TB when it runs continuously?

The unit uses two internal WD Red drives with no fan listed in the specifications, so noise comes only from drive seek and spindle rotation.

Which cables and host ports do I need to connect the USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 interface?

The box includes both a USB-C to USB-C cable and a USB-C to USB-A cable, so it works with either USB-C or USB-A ports on the host.

Can I keep using my Windows 7 PC with this 24TB RAID enclosure?

Yes, the drive is formatted NTFS and supports Windows 7, 8.1 and 10 out of the box.
