12 x 17 Negative File Envelopes

These open-side envelopes measure 12 by 17 inches and come in a box of 100. They use 40-pound tan kraft paper with a vellum finish and SFI certification. The ungummed flaps and side-seam construction suit archival negative filing.

Replaces standard letter envelopes

Standard letter envelopes are too small for large-format negatives and lack the extended flaps needed for secure closure. This size jump is worth it when you handle 12 x 17 materials regularly and need acid-free kraft stock. They do not suit users who only mail standard correspondence.

Simple manual insertion

The ungummed flaps require no moisture or adhesive equipment, so packing is done by hand. Extended flaps fold over cleanly with the side-seam design. The main issue arises if operators expect self-seal strips or try to run the stiff 40# stock through automatic inserters.

Questions about this item

What are the exact envelope dimensions for drawer or shelf planning?

Each envelope measures 12 inches by 17 inches, so allow at least that width and depth plus clearance for the extended flaps.

How do I seal these ungummed envelopes without damaging the contents?

Use a separate adhesive such as a glue stick, tape, or moistener on the extended flap; do not rely on any pre-applied gum because there is none.

When will I need to reorder if I use a full box?

A box contains 100 envelopes; reorder when your supply approaches that count, and note that a carton holds 500 envelopes for bulk restocking.
