Compact Galvanised Steel Enclosure

The Wiegmann SC-G series enclosure provides a NEMA 1 rated housing for indoor electrical components. Its 16 gauge galvanised steel construction and silver finish resist corrosion in dry environments. The solid cover secures with plated steel screws and includes self-tapping mounting hardware.

Replaces Unrated Junction Boxes

Upgrading from a basic pull box is worth it when code requires a listed enclosure with a defined NEMA rating. The cULus and CSA certifications satisfy inspectors without additional field modifications. Embossed mounting holes speed up wall installation compared to drilling generic boxes.

Simple Screw-Mount Installation

The enclosure mounts directly to a flat surface using the embossed holes and supplied self-tapping screws. A common error is over-tightening the cover screws, which can strip the plated threads and compromise the seal. Ensure the usable opening depth of 3.88 in accommodates your device before wiring.

Questions about this item

What size mounting screws fit the embossed holes in the 16 ga steel enclosure?

The embossed mounting holes accept standard self-tapping screws; the package includes plated steel self-tapping screws for wall mounting.

How is the screw-on cover secured, and which step is commonly missed?

Align the solid cover, then drive the included self-tapping screws into the plated steel screw holes; the step often missed is starting all screws by hand before final tightening.

When should the galvanized finish be inspected or the enclosure replaced?

Inspect the galvanized steel finish periodically for corrosion; replace the enclosure if the coating is breached or the 16 ga material shows structural damage.
