Compact Galvanized Steel Enclosure

The Wiegmann RSC040604G is a NEMA 3R rated enclosure built from 16 ga galvanized steel with a silver finish. It measures 4 in wide by 6 in high by 4 in deep and provides a usable opening depth of 3.88 in. The unit is designed for wall mounting and includes screws for installation.

NEMA 3R Environmental Limits

This enclosure meets NEMA 3R standards, meaning it provides protection against falling rain, sleet and external ice formation. It is not rated for submersion, dust-tight sealing or hose-directed water. The galvanized steel construction resists corrosion in outdoor environments but does not offer the chemical resistance of stainless steel or non-metallic alternatives.

Screw-Fastened Cover with Padlockable Handle

The solid cover attaches with screws and clamps, creating a secure closure that resists vibration and tampering. A padlockable handle allows the enclosure to be locked without additional hardware. The screw-on design requires tools for access, which slows routine inspection compared to hinged or quick-release covers.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 4-inch-wide RSC040604G or a wider model for my bus-plug installation?

The RSC040604G provides a 4-inch width and 3.88-inch usable opening depth; select a wider model only if your bus-plug dimensions exceed these clearances.

What does the NEMA 3R rating mean once the enclosure is mounted on a wall?

NEMA 3R indicates the galvanized-steel enclosure will shed rain and sleet in outdoor wall-mount service while allowing ventilation for the bus plugs inside.

How do the cULus and CSA certifications limit the enclosure's use in practice?

cULus and CSA certification confirm the 16-gauge steel box meets North American safety standards for line-protection enclosures in ordinary locations.
