Carbon Steel Junction Box SC060804

The Wiegmann SC060804 is a NEMA 1 rated enclosure made from 16 gauge carbon steel with an ANSI 61 powder coated gray finish. It measures 8 inches high by 6 inches wide by 4 inches deep and provides a usable opening depth of 3.88 inches. The solid cover attaches with plated steel screws and includes self-tapping screws for installation. This box suits indoor electrical wiring junctions and circuit protection components.

Wall Mounting and Cover Clearance

Verify that the mounting surface can support the enclosure weight and accepts the embossed mounting holes provided. Ensure the solid cover with screw closure allows enough front access for wiring and maintenance after installation. The screw-on cover design requires tool access for opening, so confirm adequate side clearance for a screwdriver. Check that the 3.88 inch usable depth accommodates your intended bus plugs or terminal blocks.

Indoor Thermal Performance

The carbon steel construction with powder coated finish dissipates heat passively in typical indoor environments. No active cooling is required for standard circuit breaker and line protection applications. The solid metal enclosure contains operational noise from installed components. Power draw depends entirely on the devices mounted inside the box rather than the enclosure itself.

Questions about this item

Does the SC060804 include the mounting hardware or must I buy it separately?

The box ships with self-tapping screws and has embossed mounting holes, so no extra fasteners are needed for a standard wall installation.

When would I choose this 8x6x4 carbon-steel NEMA 1 box over a larger or stainless model?

Pick the SC series when indoor protection to NEMA 1 is sufficient, the 16-gauge steel and ANSI 61 grey finish meet the spec, and the 3.88 in usable depth fits the components.

What does the NEMA 1 rating mean once the enclosure is mounted on a wall?

It provides indoor protection against falling dirt and incidental contact with live parts, but it is not rated for water, oil or outdoor exposure.
