Galvanised steel enclosure with screw-on cover, CSA and cULus listed, 16 ga construction and 7.88 in usable depth
The Wiegmann SC080808GNK is a NEMA 1 rated electrical enclosure built from 16 ga galvanized steel. It provides a secure, wall-mountable housing for indoor wiring connections and small control components. The solid cover fastens with plated steel captive screws that resist loss during maintenance. Embossed mounting holes simplify alignment on a flat surface.
This unit replaces open terminal strips or plastic boxes that lack a certified metal barrier. The jump is worth it when an inspector requires a cULus and CSA listed enclosure with a usable opening depth of 7.88 in. It also suits projects where a galvanized finish is specified for corrosion resistance in dry, non-hazardous locations.
Installation uses the embossed mounting holes and the included self-tapping screws; no separate hardware kit is needed. The captive screws on the cover stay attached so they cannot fall into live wiring during removal. The most common issue is over-tightening the cover screws, which can strip the threads in the 16 ga steel.

The enclosure has embossed mounting holes and is constructed from 16-gauge galvanized steel.
The captive screws secure the solid cover while the included self-tapping screws fasten the enclosure to the wall; a common mistake is over-tightening the self-tapping screws and stripping the 16-gauge steel.
Inspect the plated-steel cover screws periodically for corrosion or stripped threads and replace them if they no longer hold the solid cover securely.
