8-Input HDMI Switch for 1080p Displays

This Wiistar converter consolidates eight analogue and digital sources into a single HDMI output. It accepts two YPbPR component, two composite AV, three HDMI and one VGA input, making it suitable for home-theatre enthusiasts and installers who need to route legacy and modern gear to one 1080p screen. Buyers who require 4K or HDR pass-through will not be served by this unit.

Maximum 1080p Output with 3D and Surround Sound

The switch scales every input to 1080p at 50 or 60 Hz and supports HDMI 1.4 3D formats. HDMI sources can carry 2-channel stereo, 5.1, 6-channel, 7.1 or 8-channel audio, while component and AV signals are automatically de-interlaced from 480i and 576i to progressive 480p and 576p. VGA sources are accepted up to 1920 x 1200 at 60 Hz and converted to the same 1080p output.

HDMI, Coaxial and Optical Audio Outputs

A single HDMI cable carries video and embedded audio to the display, while separate coaxial and SPDIF ports feed an external AV receiver or soundbar. The package includes a 5 V power adapter, remote control with extender cable and user manual, so the unit can be tucked behind equipment and operated from the seating position. No HDCP 2.2 or HDMI 2.0 features are present.

Questions about this item

Will the 1080p output work with my older 720p TV?

Yes, the converter scales every input up or down to 1080p, 720p, 480p or 576p so a 720p display will receive a compatible signal.

Does HDMI 1.3 limit the audio formats I can pass through?

The HDMI 1.3 inputs carry stereo, 5.1, 6CH, 7.1 or 8CH surround sound and the converter outputs the same formats over SPDIF or coaxial.

How much space does the 190 by 72 by 35 mm unit need on a shelf?

The main box measures 190 mm wide, 72 mm deep and 35 mm high and weighs 387 g, so it fits on a standard AV rack shelf.
