Suited for dual-CPU server builds needing ECC memory

Builders who require registered DIMM support beyond 16 GB, newer CPU generations, or different socket types should consider other platforms. The kit does not address needs for integrated graphics, consumer-grade overclocking features or alternative form factors.

Questions about this item

What other components do I need to add to the X79 motherboard kit to have a working system?

The kit includes the X79 board, a Xeon E5 2650 V2 processor and 16 GB of DDR3 ECC memory in two 8 GB modules. You will still need a chassis, power supply, storage drives and cooling to complete the build.

Will the M.2 NVME slot on this X79 board work with older M.2 drives I already own?

The board provides an M.2 NVME slot. It accepts NVME protocol drives; older M.2 drives that use a different protocol will not be compatible with this slot.
