M-ATX server board with LGA2011 socket, four DDR3 channels, dual PCIe slots, NVMe M.2 support and gigabit Ethernet
This M-ATX motherboard uses the X79 chipset and two LGA2011 sockets to run paired Intel Xeon E5 processors. Four DDR3 channels accept registered ECC modules up to 32 GB each at speeds from 1066 to 1866 MT/s. It provides one PCI-E 3.0 16x slot, one PCI-E 3.0 4x slot, two SATA 3.0 ports, four SATA 2.0 ports, four USB 3.0 ports and twelve USB 2.0 connections plus an M.2 interface switchable between PCIe x4 NVMe and NGFF modes. Gigabit Ethernet and ALC887 5.1 audio are integrated.
Builders who need two physical CPUs, registered ECC DDR3 and an M.2 slot that can run NVMe or NGFF by dip-switch will find the required slots and chipset here. It is not for single-processor configurations, systems that require more than two SATA 3.0 ports, or workloads needing more than four memory channels.
The defining specification is the pair of LGA2011 sockets combined with four DDR3 channels supporting registered ECC up to 32 GB per module. This layout decides whether the board fits a dual-Xeon E5 server or workstation build.
