9 in Shearling Roller Cover

The Wooster Brush Company 636 is a 9 in wide paint roller cover built for use with any 1-1/2 in diameter cage frame. Its shearling cover material holds and releases all paints, including latex, alkyds, enamels and urethanes. The phenolic core resists solvents and maintains shape through repeated loading. This new cover suits professional painters and DIY decorators finishing walls, ceilings and large flat surfaces.

1-1/4 in Nap Depth

The single specification that decides fit is the 1-1/4 in nap depth. A thicker nap carries more coating and bridges rough or textured substrates such as stippled plaster, brick or popcorn ceilings. A thinner nap would leave voids on those surfaces, while a heavier nap would create unwanted texture on smooth drywall. Match the nap to the surface profile for an even film build.

Rough-Texture Jobs Only

This cover suits applicators working on rough or semi-rough surfaces where high material transfer is required. It is not suited for smooth drywall, fine woodwork or cabinetry where a low-nap or microfibre cover would leave a finer finish. Buyers who need a cover for ultra-smooth surfaces should look at a different nap profile.

Questions about this item

What does the 1-1/4" nap actually do when I roll paint on a wall?

The thick shearling nap holds more paint and reaches into textured surfaces so you cover rough walls faster with fewer reloads.

Will this cover fit the standard cage frame I already own?

Yes, it slides onto any 1-1/2 inch diameter cage frame made for 9 inch wide rollers.

What core material is used and why does it matter for mounting?

A phenolic core keeps the cover rigid and resists solvents so the roller stays round and slides on the frame without swelling.
