Dual 2-in-2-out KVM switch

The WRIARICH unit connects two computers to two monitors using HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4 inputs. It provides four USB 3.0 ports for sharing keyboards, mice, printers or flash drives between both systems. Switching is handled by a front-panel button or the included IR remote. The aluminium-alloy chassis measures 260x78x35mm and ships with two 1.2 m USB 3.0 cables, a 5 V power adapter and a user manual.

Bandwidth limits of HDMI 2.1 and DP 1.4

The HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4 interfaces cap the maximum uncompressed video bandwidth. At 8K the refresh rate is limited to 60 Hz. At 4K the switch supports up to 120 Hz, while 1080p signals can reach 240 Hz. HDCP 2.3 encryption is supported on the HDMI path. Extended and copy display modes are available, but the total throughput cannot exceed the physical link speeds of the two standards.

8K60 via HDMI 2.1 decides suitability

The single specification that determines whether this KVM fits a build is the 8K at 60 Hz ceiling on the HDMI 2.1 outputs. Systems or monitors that require 8K at higher refresh rates, or 4K beyond 120 Hz, will not run at their native performance. Buyers needing 8K120 or 4K144 on both screens simultaneously should look for a device with a higher-bandwidth interconnect.

Questions about this item

Should I use the HDMI 2.1 or DisplayPort 1.4 inputs for my 4K 120 Hz monitors?

Both inputs support 4K 120 Hz RGB 4:4:4; choose HDMI 2.1 for consoles or GPUs with HDMI 2.1 outputs, and DisplayPort 1.4 for PCs with DP 1.4 outputs.

Will 8K 60 Hz actually work through this switch on my PC?

Yes, the switch passes 8K 60 Hz signals from a compatible GPU over HDMI 2.1 or DP 1.4 to a single 8K 60 Hz monitor; dual-monitor mode is limited to 4K 120 Hz per screen.

Does the USB 3.0 hub run at full 5 Gbps when I switch computers?

The four USB 3.0 ports share a 5 Gbps upstream link to the active PC, so keyboards, mice and flash drives run at full speed; high-current hard drives are also supported.
