What this hub adds to a MacBook Pro
The WRIARICH 8-in-1 hub expands a compatible MacBook Pro through a single Thunderbolt 3 connection. It provides three USB 3.0 ports, a USB-C data port, HDMI output, and SD plus Micro SD card readers. All ports can operate at the same time. It is aimed at owners of 2016 to 2019 models who need more connectivity without extra cables.
Build and daily connections
The grey aluminium shell matches the MacBook finish and resists fingerprints. Two short Type-C tails plug into adjacent ports on the laptop for a secure mechanical fit. Thunderbolt 3 carries up to 40 Gbps and supports 5K at 60 Hz or dual 4K at 60 Hz. HDMI delivers 4K at 30 Hz or 1080p at 60 Hz. The hub passes 100 W Power Delivery through to the host.
The spec that decides fit
Thunderbolt 3 is the only interface that enables the 5K 60 Hz and dual 4K 60 Hz modes. If your MacBook Pro has Thunderbolt 3 ports the hub unlocks those resolutions; if it only has standard USB-C video the HDMI port remains limited to 4K 30 Hz.
