Bandwidth ceiling and refresh-rate limits

The HBR3 link tops out at 32.4 Gbps, so 8K 60 Hz requires DSC 1.2 compression and 10-bit colour stays at 4:4:4 only with that compression active. Without DSC the pipe cannot carry full 8K 10-bit 4:4:4. 4K 144 Hz and 1080p 240 Hz fit within the raw bandwidth, but higher refresh rates at those resolutions would exceed the 32.4 Gbps limit.

Plug-and-play with a few common snags

The cable is backward compatible with DisplayPort 1.2 and 1.1, so it works immediately on older ports. A frequent issue is the source defaulting to a lower refresh rate until the OS or driver is set to the panel’s maximum. Another snag occurs when a monitor only offers HDMI 2.0 — this cable cannot bridge DisplayPort to HDMI, so a separate active adapter would be needed.
